Stripping the Granular Finish from Your Tiles
Modern concrete tiles, such as the Marley or Redland profiles frequently found on homes in High Grange, Low Grange and Wynyard Woods, are manufactured with a protective granular sand facing. This facing protects the tile from UV degradation, weather erosion and frost damage. High-pressure washing violently strips this protective layer off, exposing the raw, porous concrete beneath to the elements. It shortens the lifespan of the tile by decades, degrades its structural strength, and leaves it highly vulnerable to cracking.
